Exmor R CMOS Sensor
TX5 has 1/2.4-type "Exmor R" CMOS sensor with 10.2 effective megapixels. This sensor is twice as sensitive to light as conventional CMOS sensors thanks to back-illuminated technology that places metal wiring beneath the photo diode instead of above it. This design also contributes to a 50% reduction in noise. This dramatic improvement in sensitivity lets users enjoy cleaner and higher definition images with less noise when shooting in dark environments such as night scenes.

Dual Memory card slot
DSC-TX5 now accepts two types of memory cards so that everyone can fully enjoy the benefit of the Cyber-shot experience but still enjoy the flexibility to select the type of memory cards depending on their needs.

Sweep Panorama has evolved into Intelligent Sweep Panorama, which now recognises faces and subject movement. This new functionality gives Intelligent Sweep Panorama the ability to stitch together photos ? even those containing people ? to create extremely natural looking panoramic shots. Users simply swing the camera in a tight arc to obtain stunning landscapes and vertical shots of tall buildings with faces or moving subjects. Panorama settings, selectable from the menu while shooting, are swing direction (up/down/right/left) and image size (Standard/Wide).

Advanced Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar zoom lens
A retractable Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens enables close-up shooting and zooming when shooting movies. TX7 is the first T Series Cyber-shot to be equipped with a wide-angle 25 mm lens, and offers 4x optical zoom that extends focal length coverage to 100 mm. In addition, this remarkable lens enables users to focus as close as 1 cm from the subject in Close Focus mode and offers superior visual acuity for a compact camera.

Optical SteadyShot
Combining the benefits of "Optical SteadyShot" optical image stabiliser with High Sensitivity mode, Sony's Double "Anti-blur" Solution helps reduce camera shake blur for telephoto shots. A built-in gyro sensor in "Optical SteadyShot" detects camera shake and automatically activates a shift lens unit to compensate for it. High Sensitivity mode has an ISO of 3200 to allow faster shutter speeds, making it especially useful for eliminating subject blur when shooting indoors or at twilight. Additionally, Sony's original Clear RAW Noise Reduction algorithm suppresses noise, a typical drawback of shooting at the higher end of the ISO scale, to deliver clean, high-resolution images. The end results are extremely natural looking photos of just about any subject or scene.

Intelligent Auto Mode
Intelligent Auto mode, quickly accessed via the MODE icon on the Touch Screen, enables the camera to automatically determine the optimal settings for nine scenes, easily capturing the moment without having to bother with difficult adjustments. Motion Detection ensures carefree shooting even for moving subjects. Working together with Intelligent AF (Auto Focus), Intelligent Auto mode makes it a snap to get sharp, beautiful photos. Users can tell at a glance when Intelligent Scene Recognition* is enabled via a flashing icon at the top left of the display.

3.0-type Clear Photo LCD Plus
Featuring outstanding luminance, superb colour reproduction, excellent contrast and a high-resolution 230,400-dot screen, Clear Photo LCD Plus is ideal for precise composition and viewing of photos.
